What is PRP?

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is derived by drawing a small sample of your blood, then using a centrifuge to isolate a concentration of plasma rich in platelets and growth factors. This powerful “liquid gold” has been used across medical fields for tissue repair and regeneration.

How it works for under-eyes

By injecting PRP under the eyes, the growth factors and cytokines stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, increase blood flow to the under-eye region, tighten loose skin, and reduce visible darkness and crepiness. Treatment is typically done over four sessions, spaced approximately one month apart, with further maintenance every 6-12 months.

Treatment highlights:

• Duration: ~45 to 60 minutes inside our clinic.
• Because the plasma is your body’s own material, risk of allergic reaction or rejection is virtually nil.
• Most patients begin to see results by the third session, with improvements in skin texture and under-eye darkness over time.
• Minimal discomfort: a numbing cream or vibration technique is offered for comfort; post-treatment swelling for ~24 hrs and possible bruising are normal.

Pre- & post-care: what you should know

Before treatment: Avoid anti-inflammatory medications (like ibuprofen, naproxen), fish oil, garlic and the like for at least 7 days to reduce bruising risk. Hydrate well (~1 L water) in the 24 hours prior.

After treatment: Expect mild swelling in the under-eye area for ~24 hrs. You may resume normal activities immediately, but avoid facial massages or treatments for the first 24 hours. Mild bruising may occur and will resolve naturally.
